Energy & rotating equipment

Energy & Rotating Equipment

Impellers, casings, rotors, shaft systems and fan components for power generation and rotating equipment, machined in Tallinn from 10 kg to 5,000 kg and Ø 500 to Ø 4,000 mm. Rotating parts are dynamically balanced up to Ø 4,000 mm in carbon steel, stainless, duplex, super duplex and titanium, inspected by VT, PT, MT and RT.

First In Service machines rotating and energy components up to Ø 2,700 mm diameter, 13,000 mm length and 4,500 mm height, holding tolerances to ±0.02 mm — in stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium. Vertical turning reaches Ø 2,700 mm on the SC27 lathe; boring reaches X 13,500 mm on the FERMAT WRF 130. Welded structures up to 35 × 7 × 7 metres and 160 tonnes are fabricated in the same facility, so welded-and-machined assemblies never cross a company boundary mid-process.

Where tolerance decides everything

On rotating parts, the tolerance is the product.

Rotating equipment fails expensively. A pump casing machined a hundredth out of true, a shaft with residual stress released after final pass, an impeller in the wrong alloy for the service fluid — each one becomes an unplanned outage measured in days of lost generation, not in the price of the part. Energy procurement is therefore not shopping for machining hours. It is buying dimensional certainty, verified material, and a supplier who understands why the tolerance is written where it is.

Machining and fabrication in one place

Large rotating components, machined and documented in one place.

We machine impellers, pump and compressor casings, rotor and shaft systems, turbine housings and large structural components up to Ø 2,700 mm and 13,000 mm in length, holding ±0.02 mm where the fit demands it. Fabrication, machining, surface treatment and assembly happen in one 18,000 m² Tallinn facility, so a welded-and-machined assembly never crosses a company boundary mid-process.

Typical scope

Rotating parts: Impellers, casings, rotors, shaft systems
Structures: Turbine housings, frames, foundations, base plates
Pressure scope: Vessels and modules to PED 2014/68/EU

Relevant equipment

FERMAT WRF 130: Floor-type boring mill, X 13,500 mm — shaft lines and housings
SC27 VTL: Vertical turning to Ø 2,700 mm — rings, flanges, hubs
PUMA 700LY II: Horizontal turning, live tooling, L 3,250 mm
ZAYER XIOS 4000: Bed-type CNC milling, X 4,000 mm

Materials

Corrosion-resistant: Duplex, super duplex, stainless
Specialty alloys: Inconel, Hastelloy, titanium
Traceability: EN 10204 3.1 standard, 3.2 on request
Emerging scope

Hydrogen and carbon capture use the same discipline.

PED-certified pressure equipment in duplex and super duplex is the core competence behind hydrogen storage vessels and CCUS process equipment. The materials, the weld procedure control, the ferrite balance verification and the documentation package are the same ones we already run daily. If your project is in this space, the capability exists today — talk to us about scope before you assume it needs a specialist.

FAQ

Questions energy & rotating equipment buyers ask

Can First In Service machine large impellers and pump casings?

Rotating components up to Ø 2,700 mm diameter and 13,000 mm length are machined to tolerances down to ±0.02 mm, in stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, Inconel and titanium.

What size shafts can you machine?

Shafts up to 13,000 mm in length on FERMAT WRF 130 floor-type boring mills (X travel 13,500 mm), and up to 3,250 mm with live tooling on the PUMA 700LY II horizontal turning centre.

Do you manufacture components for hydropower and turbines?

Turbine housings, rotor and shaft systems, casings and large structural components are within our 160-tonne, 35-metre envelope, with full material traceability.

What documentation ships with rotating equipment components?

Dimensional inspection reports, EN 10204 3.1 material certificates (3.2 on request), and NDT reports (VT, PT, MT, UT) performed by certified partners.

Can you handle hydrogen and carbon capture equipment?

Yes. Pressure equipment to PED 2014/68/EU in duplex, super duplex and stainless steel is the same discipline used for hydrogen storage and CCUS process equipment.
